Volvo VHD - tough, smart and for efficient usage

Volvo VHD is Volvo’s yet another tough and smart model. The VHD truck replaced other trucks such as Autocar. The Autocar was considered as the heavy duty vocational truck of class 8. Now Volvo VHD has become the new vocational truck. The chassis of the truck is made lighter. Despite this the chassis is extremely strong. The single heavy duty rail frame reduces the weight. The special rail also reduces corrosion and in turn increases the overall strength of the frame. The cab is similar to the one in Volvo VT and Volvo VN on road trucks. However some of the features of Volvo VHD are unique.

Features of Volvo VHD
The most important feature of Volvo VHD is that, it is made for extreme driving conditions. The truck can be reliably used on construction sites, rugged environment and extreme weather conditions. The power and safety measures come hand in hand in Volvo VHD. The light weight yet strong chassis reduces weight. Hence driving on steep hills becomes easier for the loaded VHD truck. The stronger chassis is just perfect in tough conditions.

The larger wheel base of 238 inches makes the truck roll on worst roads. This heavy duty truck can easily handle all types of surrounding conditions. The truck possesses total 8 wheels out of which 4 wheels are driving wheels with forward axel. The engine is D13 with 1650 lb- ft torque and 485 bhp power. Some of the VHD models can be customized for better usage. The trucks are available in three types namely, 6x4, 8x4 and 8x6. The transmission in the VHD truck is I-shift with 12 speed automated gearshift. The front axel has a capacity of 20, 000 pounds while it is positioned at 29.1 and 51.2 inches. The rear suspension has the capacity of 70,000 pounds. The VEST or Volvo Enhanced Stability Technology offer better stability and traction control over the truck.

The comfort of the driver and fellow passengers is also considered in Volvo VHD. The cab is spacious and comfortable for the driver. There is special extra space provided between the seats which can be used to store personal luggage. Since the Volvo VHD is designed for extreme weather conditions, special precautions are taken in designing the cab. The window panels of the truck are made soundproof in order to cut down the noise at construction sites. The attractive cab makes the driver as well as the passengers more comfortable. Even the doors are double sealed to protect from wind, water and noise.

Some of the amenities for driver are inclusive of deluxe interiors. The luxurious interior can be seen in every Volvo truck. The high back seats with heated suspension offer comfortable sitting position for the driver. The cab is provided with some more features such as air conditioner, power windows and locks, heated and power adjustable mirrors. These entire extra features make the drive in Volvo VHD safe and relaxed.

The Volvo VHD truck is available in several countries such as Mexico, Canada and USA.
